A solid introduction to Ember.js and its ecosystem

This is a solid introduction to Ember.js, as well as ember-cli and ember-data. The book doesn't go into great depth, but it touches on all the important parts of the framework.

I've found it hard to learn Ember.js, because the framework has been in flux and much of the online documentation is out of date. For example, Ember's controllers are scheduled to be deprecated, but a lot of the Ember tutorials were written when controllers were an important part of an Ember application. In this book, the author says: "The Ember team plans to deprecate controllers early in the 2.x release cycle, in favor of performing similar work in the route or in components. Future versions of this book will follow suit, and for now, we’re avoiding using controllers as much as possible." At the time of writing this review, there's not a lot of good advice available online on how to avoid using controllers, which makes the examples in this book all the more valuable.

I also appreciate the way that this book doesn't get distracted by introducing addons for this, that, and the next thing. Each chapter contains a sidebar that points you in the direction of an addon that you might find useful, and those suggestions give you plenty more to read up on if you want.

I've been using Ember.js for about a year now and I wish that I had read this book sooner.

I bought the electronic version and liked the way content is presented. As a new learner of Ember I found this book a great introduction how to work with Ember, with very clear and up to date explanations. It contains tips on useful addons from the Ember addons ecosystem as well as developing and publishing your own addon. It is not a long book so the reader can quickly get started working on apps but perhaps an additional more in depth chapter on how the Ember framework functions behind the scenes would be useful for better understanding.

This was one of the best series I have ever read. I was not happy when I was nearing the end of the story because I did not want it to end. But I was oh so glad I had another story in the series to read. This story was very different from any other series I have ever read. The story was well written without being confusing even though the story line encompassed many other planets and aliens, everything was kept at a level that was easy to follow and remember from story to story. The females are strong females, they are either alpha's from the start of the story or turn into alpha's by the end of the stories. But, I wish there would of been more of the females holding there own in the beginning of each relationship instead of giving in to the men with in a few short pages. I was very upset that the series came to an end but Alien Interludes was a great book that I was able to put questions to rest about what happened to certain characters. This series is a MUST read! AND the Kindle books are FULL books.

Cops and a "bad" girl. Oh yeah!

I really like the Clans of Kalquor, I have read most of them and this one adds something I haven't seen in a while, a heroine that is not as level headed. It is refreshing to see someone with qualities of a real girl without the religious indoctrination, and as always, the kalquorian patience shows. The action is great, felt like I was watching a film.

Not as good as the others.

I usually love this series, this one didn't seem to satisfy me as much as the others.
Something about it just seemed off. Maybe it was Dani, I couldn't seem to quite connect to her as I had to the others.
I finished it but I really had to push myself and I was just going through the motions.Maybe it was my mood,I don't like that I didn't groove on this book, it makes me sad. This was one of my favourite series, this book let it down for me

I've really liked all of her books

I've really liked all of her books, but not this one. It's super silly, had no real action or suspense, and the couple went from "no we can't" to constant sex. There were zombies. Why? (Admittedly I could have been daydreaming when that problem was rectified.) She's a vampire, he's human, although he is a psychic. Do they live as long as vampires? Hope so, otherwise their relationship is going to be short term.
There were ghost, too. They really didn't do much of anything; not spooky or scary or started any trouble. Very disappointing.

Same book, different names

I have loved the Broken Heart books, but this one wanted to make me scream. It is Housewife For Rent redone. All she did was move it from one small Oklahoma town to Broken Heart and changed some of the characters from wacky small town characters into wacky paranormal small-town characters. A lot of it is just totally verbatim the same. I realize since she wrote both books it's not really plagiarism but damn it's lazy!

A Fantastic Time!

This book was fabulous. This entire series is such a great time and this book is such a great addition. I love how the author incorporates new characters and situations while still keeping old and loved characters in the mix. There are so many parts that did have me laughing out loud. For anyone that is looking for a book to get lost in and forget about life for a while this is definitely a great choice!

So Glad I Found This Series

My efforts to reteach myself to play the piano had kind of stalled but ALFRED'S BASIC ADULT PIANO COURSE has put me back in gear. I kind of dithered between starting with level 2 or level 3 and though the first few pieces in level 2 were very easy for me I soon found I really did need the review offered in level 2 and a quick scan of level 3 shows me I would have soon become frustrated with it without going through this book first. A tuneful selection of folk, jazz ragtime and classical music make up most of the coursework and there is a lot of emphasis on chords and fingering - skills I missed in my piano lesson days of long ago. The book is bound with a sturdy plastic "comb" good for me as I am notoriously hard on piano music. There are pen and paper exercises to review notes and chords as well as lots of beautiful music pieces. If you are faithful in practicing this series will teach you a great deal about the piano and keep you motivated to continue.

Excellent series of books

See my review of the Level One book. This series of adult books is excellent and is very reasonably priced. I can't say enough good about the books. Some folks complain that the music used in these texts is not classical. Well, for me, classical music was what drove me away from the piano in the first place when I was a young kid. I wanted to learn to play the popular music I was hearing on the radio. Now as a senior I can chose my own music: classical, popular, rock, jazz, spiritual, and more. I'm learning to play the piano and that is a huge thrill for me. Evenings I study the book, figure out the count and mark the drill and practice pieces with it, and make notations on the music where I feel the need, then the next afternoon, I sit down at the piano and practice. It feels wonderfully gratifying to make music myself again.

My teacher fell in love with this book series.

Let me start by saying that I am a 24 years old and a really young piano student (barely 4months as I am writing this review).

A friend brought me the first book of Afred's series as a gift when he came back from UK while I had already started working on another book with my teacher.

When I received the first book I showed it immediately to my teacher, she studied it for a few days and asked me to order the other books of the series, because we are going to work on them.

Now I am almost done with the first series (NOT Afred's series. Remember I was already working on another book until i received the first Afred's book) and I am studying Afred's first at the same time. I have to say that Afred's is way above my current one, because it has A LOT well-known songs, the transaction from one technique to another is smoother while making sure that you go from the easier techniques to the most difficult, it has exercises and explanations before you "go on stage" so you know what you are about to face.

Overall, 5/5 from me.

I got this book for my 2 year old son because he always "read" it at daycare and talked about it every night! I ordered it for him and he was so excited when I showed him his very own copy. By the second night, he had memorized it and it was adorable to hear him say the story aloud by himself. If you have a little one, this book is perfect right before the Halloween season!

It's okay. But there are better out there.

My professor at my medical school raved about this book. Didn't really find it useful. The information was scattered around everywhere and the diagrams weren't useful either. Everything is there, just not in an easy to find format.

I have since moved on to Hacker and Moore. That one is a little basic but it is written in a very understandable and organized way.
